How We Tested

1. Hostinger Test — Used our existing PERYXA website to evaluate page creation, design customization, SEO settings, and mobile responsiveness. We also attempted to generate a new page using AI, but this required an upgrade to our current plan.

2. Wix Test — Created a BrightPath Digital website and generated an About page using AI without upgrading. Tested manual section and card creation, font upload, color customization, AI-assisted SEO, and mobile responsiveness.

3. WordPress.com Test — Created a free BrightPath Digital test site, built a page with two service cards, and tested AI assistance, image generation, custom colors, typography, SEO, and responsive layouts. Font uploads and advanced SEO required a paid plan. Mobile and tablet layouts displayed correctly.

4. Shopify Test — Created a BrightPath Digital test store and generated an About section using AI, including mission, approach, and service cards. Tested page creation, SEO settings, typography, and mobile responsiveness. The mobile layout displayed correctly, but changes required manual saving and launching the store required selecting a plan.

Testing note: Hostinger was tested using our existing PERYXA plan, Wix and WordPress.com using free plans, and Shopify using a trial in September 2026. We tested page creation, AI features, design customization, SEO settings, and responsive layouts. Feature availability may vary by plan and change over time.

We tested four website builders by creating a small-business website for BrightPath Digital. We explored AI page generation, manual page creation, design customization, SEO settings, and mobile responsiveness. We also recorded which features were available on our existing plans, free plans, or trial.

Website Builders at a Glance

#2- Hostinger 8.5/10

We built and published PERYXA using Hostinger’s AI Website Builder. Its visual editor allowed us to customize pages, colors, typography, and layouts, while its SEO tools helped us prepare the website for search engines.

Main limitations: Generating an additional page with AI required an upgrade to our existing plan. We also could not select and duplicate multiple items at once, which made editing repetitive elements more time-consuming.

#1- Wix 9/10

We created a BrightPath Digital test website using Wix and successfully generated an additional About page with AI without upgrading. Wix also allowed us to create and customize sections manually, upload custom fonts, adjust brand colors, and use AI-assisted SEO tools.

Main limitation: Michroma was not available in the built-in font library, so we needed to use the custom font upload option.

#4- wordPress.com 7.5/10

We created a free WordPress.com test site and built a service page using its block editor. The two-column layout adapted well to mobile and tablet screens. We also successfully tested custom HEX colors, Jetpack AI title suggestions, AI image generation, and blogging features.

Main limitations: We could not access the initial AI website builder on the Free plan. Custom font uploads and the dedicated Optimize SEO feature required a paid plan.

#3- Shopify 8/10

We created a BrightPath Digital test site using Shopify’s trial. Its AI section generator helped us build service cards and an About section. We also customized brand colors and fonts, edited SEO settings, and checked the mobile layout.

Main limitations: Creating a complete About page required several steps rather than one AI prompt. We could not select and duplicate multiple blocks at once, and changes had to be saved manually.

Our Website Builder Findings

We tested Hostinger, Wix, WordPress.com, and Shopify by creating and editing small-business websites. Hostinger helped us build and publish PERYXA, while Wix let us generate an additional page with AI during our free-plan test. WordPress.com offered a flexible block editor and blogging tools, although some design and SEO features required an upgrade. Shopify let us create AI-generated sections and customize a storefront, but building a complete About page took several steps. Each builder offers different features, and availability depends on the plan tested.

Our takeaway: Compare each builder’s features, plan limits, and pricing against your website’s needs before choosing.
